Carolyn is originally from California and moved to New Brunswick, Canada, as a teenager. She met her husband, Chris, and married in 1991. They set their roots Windham, ME, in 2001 with their two young daughters. Donair’s are one of Chris’ favorite foods, so after the past few years of talking about the youngest daughter, Bri, starting a food truck with her years of experience in the food and service industry, Carolyn decided to quit her full-time job and pursue this food truck with Bri by her side.
This Canadian Maritime favorite is seasoned beef shaved onto a warmed pita bread with a sweet-tangy garlic sauce and topped with tomatoes and onions.
The donair-a Canadian Maritime favorite.
Two brothers, John and Peter, moved to Canada from Greece in the 1960s and opened a pizza shop in the 1970s in Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada. The brothers loved their homeland food, the gyro. The traditional gyro did not go over well with the people of the Halifax area. So, Peter came up with a new recipe of ground beef, secret spices, and a sweet sauce. He called it the donair. The donair has become the official food of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
